SUMMARY:Short documentary premiere: With four you can play bridge
DESCRIPTION:It’s been over a year of anti-goverment protests\, Rog is gone\, Metelkova is being threatened\, and the intimidating presence of the police in the streets is increasing. The rise of the authoritarianism of the current right-wing government is becoming impossible to ignore. How do we fight the emerging fear and the despondency? The short documentary With Four You Can Play Bridge follows Edi as he tries to grapple with what the current situation might mean for his activism. Starting from his own experience with queer activism in Ljubljana\, Edi starts looking outward to other contexts and movements in the rest of Slovenia\, as well as in Hungary\, Slovakia\, Poland and Czech Republic. What can we learn from our fellow activists from Visegrád? What are the common struggles we are facing? What strategies and tactics can we employ and\, more importantly\, how do we preserve the momentum of our movements in these increasingly hostile times?  \nThe short documentary With Four You Can Play Bridge was produced by the Youth Section of Ljubljana Pride Association. The event of  the documentary’s premiere will be preceded by a literary gathering titled We Lessen the Grip of Walls. \n

Just before Slovenia takes over the presidency of the EU\, not hiding its appreciation for the politics of The Visegrád Group\, the young authors will present their poetry and help us map LGBTIQ+ art production in their home countries\, while simultaneously placing it in a broader social context.

SUMMARY:Symposium “LGBTQ+ young people in school”
DESCRIPTION:Organised by: Pride Parade Association and Cultural\, Informational and Counseling Center Legebitra \nLanguage: Slovene and English + sign language interpretation + translation (English-Slovene and Slovene-English) \n  \nThe Symposium\, co-organised by Ljubljana Pride Association and DIC Legebitra will focus on the field of education and LGBTQ+. Its purpose is to present current issues in the field\, the results of the 2019 national survey on the situation in schools “LGBT youth – let’s break the silence in schools!”\, our projects and activities\, as well as good practices from abroad and Slovenia with the intention of creating a more inclusive and safer schools. \nSignificant progress has been made in the area of education and LGBTQ+. Given the situation and needs of both young people and educators\, we still have a lot of work to do. We must strive for successful next steps together and respond to challenges and increasing pressures in cooperation. The symposium represents one of the starting points for the in-depth work necessary in creating a safer school environment for LGBTQ+ young people. \n  \nEvent will take place at the Kino Šiška\, as well as online on Zoom. Kino Šiška is accessible for wheelchair users and adapted for people using hearing aids. Due to COVID-19-related restrictions\, the number of attendees will be limited. \nYou can participate in the event in different ways: \n\nin Kino Šiška\,\non Zoom (option of interactive participation)\,\nwatch recording of the event that will be available on our online platforms after the symposium.\n\n  \nPrinted versions of the report and the manuals will be available at the event. \nDue to the measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia to limit the spread of coronavirus\, registration is mandatory. The form can be found here. \nLanguages used at the event will be Slovene and English with sign language interpretation and translation into English. \n  \nIn preparation for the event\, we are following all the NIJZ (National Institute of Public Health) guidelines for ensuring safety. \n  \nThe event is a part of the Pride Parade Festival 2021. \nThe event is supported by the Erasmus+ programme\, Active Citizens Fund in Slovenia 2014-2021\, Renew Europe\, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany Ljubljana and Kino Šiška. \n—– \n  \nActivities\, programmes and projects of the Information Center Legebitra are co-financed by: Foundation for the Financing of Disabled and Humanitarian Organisations in the Republic of Slovenia – FIHO. More than 600 young LGBTQ+ people involved in the educational process from all statistical regions of Slovenia participated in the survey. Among other results\, the survey showed that 34.8% of the respondents do not feel safe at school because of their sexual orientation and 26.4% because of their gender expression. The survey reports high percentages of LGBTQ+ people who have experienced verbal\, physical and other forms of violence at school\, both on the basis of their sexual orientation and gender identity/expression or some other circumstance. \n  \n11.00–11.30: Coffee and a presentation (in Slovene) \nPresentation of trainings\, educational materials and manuals for implementation of educational activities with young people. Presentation of the Network of Inclusive Schools\, which aims to promote and implement human rights and combat inequality and discrimination in the school environment. \n  \n11.30–12.00: Presentation of the SAFER project (in Slovene and English) \nPresentation of the SAFER (Schools Act For Equal Rights) project\, which addresses the fight against discrimination and for equal opportunities in the school environment with the aim of creating a (more) inclusive and safer environment for young people. \n  \n12.00–12.30: Presentation of recommendations and good practices (in Slovene and English) \nPresentation of recommendations collected on the basis of research and presentation of good practices from Slovenian schools and organisations from abroad. \n  \n12.30–12:45: Break \n  \n12.45–13.30: Discussion (in Slovene) \nA discussion with guests we will talk about how to tackle pressures on political\, media and civil society level of stigmatization due to the so-called “ideologisation of schools” and attacks on the presence of LGBTQ+ content in schools. \nThe names of the speakers will be published later. \n  \n13.30–14.00: Closing and lunch  \n

DESCRIPTION:Organised by: Ljubljana Pride Association \nLanguage:  English \n  \nAre you also noticing more and more hateful graffiti popping up in your neighborhoods too? Are you uncomfortable when you see a statement in a bar or club toilet that discriminates against certain groups of people\, maybe even one that you feel personally addressed by? For anyone who wants to learn more about how you can change hate speech in graffiti\, stickers or other forms of street art\, take away the power of the hate\, maybe even turn it into the exact opposite message – join the DecontRamination workshop\, where we will do just that. \n  \nIn order to test the newly acquired knowledge in practice\, the theoretical workshop will be followed by a real hunt for graffiti and rainbow treasures. SUMMARY:Exhibition: The Colours of Homelessness
DESCRIPTION:Organised by: Pride Parade Association\, Initiative for fighting LGBTIQ+ homelessness\, City of Ljubljana \nLanguage: Slovenian \n  \nThe exhibition titled The Colours of Homelessness addresses the often overlooked but increasingly pressing issue of homelessness and housing deprivation within LGBTIQ+ youth. \nThe exhibition consists of two separate but connected elements. The first part comprises infographics that present\, in a creative and accessible way\, the results of a research project carried out by Ljubljana Pride Association. This was the first piece of research into LGBTIQ+ youth homelessness and housing deprivation in Slovenia and it includes the experiences of young LGBTIQ+ people as well as LGBTIQ+ and homelessness service providers. \nThe second part of the exhibition is composed of artworks by four young LGBTIQ+ people\, representing their own lived experiences with homelessness and housing deprivation through various artistic media. By sharing their stories\, the artists offer a personal perspective into the wider overarching theme.

SUMMARY:Badge- and Banner-Making Workshop: TRANSparent Part Two
DESCRIPTION:Organised by: Ljubljana Pride Association and Društvo Kvartir \nLanguage: English \n  \nPride Connects and Društvo Kvartir are co-hosting TRANSparent Part Two: Banner And Badge-Making Workshop.  \nOne of the initiatives Ljubljana Pride is collaborating with during this year’s Pride Festival is Transpozij_um\, an annual gathering for the transgender and intersex community of the Balkan region\, organised this year by Društvo Kvartir’s section TransKvartir. In order to support their work\, and to make sure we are prepared to march together during the Pride Parade\, which will be joined this year by the Balkan Trans and Intersex March\, Pride Connect and Društvo Kvartir are co-hosting a drop-in workshop where we will make banners\, protest signs and badges with focus on trans topics. It will also be an opportunity to meet the ESC volunteers who have travelled to Ljubljana to help us organise the Pride Festival\, and help them get to know our local queer and trans community!  \nThe materials we make at the workshop will be used as part of the Balkan Trans and Inter March and to raise funds for the Pride Festival.  \nThis event is aimed at trans* folk and allies and will take place live in front of Monokel\, Metelkova.
