Symposium: Advancement of LGBTI Rights in the political sphere

This post is also available in: Slovenščina (Slovenian)
Organised by: Association Cultural, Informational and Counseling Center Legebitra in cooperation with Pride Parade Association
Language: Slovene (first two thematic talks), English (third thematic talk)
The Association Legebitra and the Ljubljana Pride Association are inviting you to three thematic talks, where we will together with our guests discuss advancement of LGBTI rights in Slovenia.
When we look at the equality of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people in our country, decades of work and efforts of activists and non-governmental organizations have brought many changes for the better. Undoubtedly, the greatest advancement has been made in the field of same-sex partnerships, where we today have the Civil Unions Act, which has improved the legal situation for same-sex couples. Despite the importance and power of civil society, systemic changes cannot take place if politics, or at least individuals within political structures, are not in their favour.
Programme:
4:30 pm – 5:30 pm – LGBT Equality in the Slovenian Political Sphere
With our interlocutors, people who have been an important ally in the pursuit of equality in the last 30 years, we will take a look at the path we have taken and talk about their views on some of the milestones achieved in advancing LGBTI rights.
The round table will be held in Slovenian.
The names of the speakers will be published later.
5: 45 pm – 6: 45 pm – Future Challenges in Achieving Equality for LGBTI People
Efforts for the equality of LGBTI people are far from over. With our speakers, we will discuss the challenges we face and what are the ways to effectively address them.
The round table will be held in Slovenian.
The names of the speakers will be published later.
