SUMMARY:Symposium: Advancement of LGBTI Rights in the political sphere
DESCRIPTION:Organised by: Association Cultural\, Informational and Counseling Center Legebitra in cooperation with Pride Parade Association \nLanguage: Slovene (first two thematic talks)\, English (third thematic talk) \n  \nThe Association Legebitra and the Ljubljana Pride Association are inviting you to three thematic talks\, where we will together with our guests discuss advancement of LGBTI rights in Slovenia.  \nWhen we look at the equality of lesbians\, gays\, bisexuals and transgender people in our country\, decades of work and efforts of activists and non-governmental organizations have brought many changes for the better. Undoubtedly\, the greatest advancement has been made in the field of same-sex partnerships\, where we today have the Civil Unions Act\, which has improved the legal situation for same-sex couples. Despite the importance and power of civil society\, systemic changes cannot take place if politics\, or at least individuals within political structures\, are not in their favour. \nProgramme: \n4:30 pm – 5:30 pm – LGBT Equality in the Slovenian Political Sphere\nWith our interlocutors\, people who have been an important ally in the pursuit of equality in the last 30 years\, we will take a look at the path we have taken and talk about their views on some of the milestones achieved in advancing LGBTI rights.\nThe round table will be held in Slovenian. \nThe names of the speakers will be published later. \n  \n5: 45 pm – 6: 45 pm – Future Challenges in Achieving Equality for LGBTI People\nEfforts for the equality of LGBTI people are far from over. With our speakers\, we will discuss the challenges we face and what are the ways to effectively address them.\nThe round table will be held in Slovenian. \nThe names of the speakers will be published later. \n  \n7:00 pm -8: 00 pm – LGBTI Equality – Challenges Abroad and on International Stage\nAt the round table\, we will talk to the ambassadors and / or deputies about the situation and development of the rights of LGBTI people in their countries and about the possibilities of addressing LGBTI issues on the international stage.\nThe round table will be held in English. \nThe names of the speakers will be published later. \nAfter discussions there will be a virtual multimedia exhibition 20 years of Pride parade in Ljubljana. \n  \nDue to the measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia to limit the spread of coronavirus\, registration is mandatory. The form can be found here. \n  \nIn preparation for the event\, we follow all NIJZ (National Institute of Public Health) guidelines for ensuring safety. \n  \nEvent is part of symposium LGBTIQ+ rights in Ljubljana\, organised by Pride Parade Association as part of the 20th anniversary of the Pride Parade in Ljubljana. \nEvent is co-financed by City of Ljubljana.\nEvent is co-organised by The Vodnik Homestead (Vodnikova domačija Šiška). \n—– \nActivities\, programs and projects of the  Information Center Legebitra are co-financed by: Foundation for the Financing of Disabled and Humanitarian Organizations in the Republic of Slovenia – FIHO. The views of the organization do not reflect the views of FIHO.

SUMMARY:Workshop: Activist Tea Party
DESCRIPTION:Organised by: Ljubljana Pride Association \nLanguage: Slovene \n  \nSolidarity is a concept that is often close to the hearts of activists\, but rarely gets as much attention as it deserves. How do we live and work in solidarity? Do we know how to translate solidarity externally really well and successfully\, through our communities and social circles to our fellow human rights activists? \n  \nWith the above questions in mind\, we invite you to a tea party\, where there will be a special guest\, Activism\, who will be discussing with the other guest\, Solidarity. We will mix our own activist experiences with good coffee and tea (and a snack\, of course) and shed light on them from the point of view of solidarity. For dessert\, we will try to strengthen inter-community solidarity and plan joint combat operations. \n  \nThe event will be semi-structured\, partially coordinated\, engaged and invigorating both internally and externally. 😉

SUMMARY:Online discussion and exhibition viewing: Visualising the Lives of LGBTIQ Roma
DESCRIPTION:Organised by: Ljubljana Pride Association \nLanguage: English \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVisualising the Lives of LGBTIQ Roma is a group photo exhibition showing the too often invisible lived experiences of people at the intersection of LGBTIQ+ and Roma identities. It was created through a series of workshops that were part of a postdoctoral project of dr. Lucie Fremlova\, in collaboration with diverse LGBTIQ+ Roma participants. Through their works\, the authors not only offer an insight into their lives\, but also demonstrate how they want to be represented. \nBecause we are unable to host the exhibition in person this year due to epidemiologic circumstances\, we will show it online during the event. This will be accompanied by a discussion with Lucie Fremlova and with Roland Korponovics and Laszlo Farkas\, two of the authors of the exhibition. \nWe will speak about the exhibition\, the process of its creation\, and the importance of such projects for the visibility of LGBTIQ+ Roma. We will also talk about the intersection of LGBTIQ+ and Roma identities and the challenges it poses\, about feeling (un)welcome in different communities\, about how LGBTIQ+ organisations and individuals can best support the Roma people in our community\, and much more. \nYou can see some of the works from the exhibition here: https://qrstock.qrtv.eu/ \n\n————– \n  \nLucie Fremlova is an independent international researcher of ethnicity\, race\, sexuality and gender. She works at the interface of academia\, social movements and activism\, particularly in relation to LGBTIQ+ Roma\, the Roma rights movement\, desegregation\, inclusive education and the movement of Roma within the UK. Her work has been published in journal articles\, she has co-authored a book chapter\, worked as a peer- reviewer and is working on a book. \nHer doctoral thesis on the lived experiences of LGBTIQ+ Roma in and beyond Europe is the first in-depth research study to explore the lived experiences of LGBTIQ+ Roma. \n  \nRoland Korponovics is a media-artist currently living and working in Budapest\, Hungary. His main focus is on the visual representations of the LGBTIQ+ community at an intersection of the contrasting globalist approaches of western and eastern cultural narratives.  \nLooking at these identities as postmodern products\, his main goal is to scan identities which are strongly defined by global online media. He explores how behavioural patterns of these communities are reinforced by these stereotypes\, putting the spotlight on the critical approach from a postcolonial point of view. \nHis main artistic forms are performance and video. \n  \nLászló Farkas aka Gypsyrobot is a Berlin based Hungarian media producer\, DJ and Roma LGBTIQ+ activist. He is the founder of the civil Roma and Queer community related media projects called QRTV Europa\, Radio Shun.es and TV Baxtale. As a DJ he regularly plays his DJ sets at European Pride events (e.g. Budapest\, Prague\, Amsterdam) filled with Romani and world music. He was nominated for the Hungarian Roma Press Center Prize called “Aranypánt-díj” which is awarded to successful Hungarian Roma youth. He was one of the artists at the first Roma Biennale in Berlin.

SUMMARY:Pride Fundraiser: LiveStream Concert - Wolf behind her eyes
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to our online Pride Fundraiser event with Wolf behind her eyes! \nSince it looks like we won’t be able to dance with you at live music events for a while\, we decided to take the party online. \nThe Wolf Behind Her Eyes performed on the Pride stage for the first time last year\, but they also have previous experience performing at Pride events. SUMMARY:Pride Fundraiser: Lucka Kuhna
DESCRIPTION:Concert \nLucka Kuhna has been playing since May 2011\, when some teachers at the Waldorf School Ljubljana decided at the prom that their band would not only be a one-day prom band\, but would continue to play together. The band took its name from the punk song of the same name played that evening. But least of all because it operates in the former building of the People’s Kitchen: the “light kitchen” is light mainly because it is open to all people\, regardless of musical (ignorance) – that they only have the joy of playing\, and because it is open to all sorts – that they can only be played. Lucka kuhna is a kitchen because it is not afraid to change recipes\, knowing that it is often necessary to cook with those ingredients that are\, and not just with those that you would like\, and because it proves that it can also be made from simple ingredients. cook a great dish. Lucka kuhna especially likes to serve everyone who likes spicy music in an electric way.

SUMMARY:Ljubljana Pride: How it all began
DESCRIPTION:“June 8\, 2001. On June 8\, the warden of the “Cafe Galerija” bar in the Ljubljana City Gallery\, which is owned by the City of Ljubljana\, bans gay poets Brane Mozetič and Jean Paul Daoust from entering. Explain to them that “we should get used to the fact that the bar is no longer for ‘people like that'”. Every Friday since then\, there has been a protest drinking of mineral water in the bar – protesters drink mineral water as slowly as possible and thus reduce the profit of the bar owner. . . . . We do not live to see the condemnation\, so preparations are underway for the “Bypass Around Intolerance – a March Against Homophobia”. (Taken from 20 Years of Chronology of the Gay and Lesbian Movement.) \n20 years later\, we drink mineral water again in the City Gallery. We drink it with pride when we remember the first parade. We drink it to mark an organized action\, protest\, and consequently all the changes that occurred through the uprising and the work of LGBTIQ+ activists. In the end\, we drink because we have not forgotten our activist history\, also because we know that for some we are still seen as “people like that”. We invite you to a symbolic street action to remember these times together with Brane Mozetič and Suzana Tratnik\, drink a glass of mineral water and talk about how it all started. The event will be held in the Slovene language.

SUMMARY:SELEKCIJA I Koncert: Playground Hustle (ZG)
DESCRIPTION:Playground Hustle (ZG)\nIn the summer months\, the sixth season of a series of open-air concerts – SELEKCIJA – will take place on Town Square in front of Pritličje. \nBiography \nGenre: Rap\, electronics\, experimental rap \nProducer Tonota and rapper Megi work together to create music that flirts with the experimental\, yet has musical roots that we can all connect with. \nTheir live performances are a combination of energy and mysticism. Maggie catalyzes her high-voltage energy with the help of rap\, singing and dancing\, allowing her to make the most of every corner of the stage\, while Tonota’s mysticism and calmness prevent chaos. \nTheir music is definitely something new among domestic contemporary club production and their style absolutely corresponds to modern western club electro / rap trends. It is an extremely innovative direction of combining electronic music and rap in a way that is nurtured on the world music scene by artists such as Die Antwood and Billie Eilish. \nPlayground Hustle is an unusual duet that pushes genre boundaries by crossing the aforementioned styles. Their new album Needles was recently released in a DIY / Bandcamp release. The invincible Luka Tralić Shot from the band Elemental deserves credit for the recording\, mixing and mastering. He also signed the album with his vocal participation in the song Igle. \nSo far\, they have released three studio albums: Pikule (2016)\, Kolovoz (2017) and Igle (December 2019). \nLINKS: \nhttps://playgroundhustle.bandcamp.com/ \nhttps://www.facebook.com/playground.hustle/ \nhttps://soundcloud.com/playground-hustle \nThe first summer stage will be warmed up by ??????.

SUMMARY:Symposium LGBTIQ+ rights in Ljubljana
DESCRIPTION:Symposium will be part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Pride Parade in Ljubljana. It will focus on reviewing the situation at the local level and will include two connected events. \nPublic discussion »Cooperation of the Municipality of Ljubljana with the LGBTIQ+ community« with representatives of the Municipality of Ljubljana Katarina Gorenc\, Simona Topolinjak and Mateja Demšič and with representatives of the LGBTIQ+ community about various LGBTIQ+ projects and structures that exist in Ljubljana. We will research what the cooperation between MOL and the LGBTIQ + community has been like in the last 20 years\, what structures already exist\, what are the current challenges and what is the vision of the future. \nIn thematic discussions »Development of Guidelines for the Future« we will review existing activities in individual areas\, discuss challenges and needs\, and look for solutions to address them. The work will take the form of 4-5 parallel thematic discussions in small groups. Each group will focus on one of the topics offered: housing of LGBTIQ + young people\, how MOL programs and initiatives can help in non-discrimination of LGBTIQ + people\, education and school system\, social justice and support mechanisms. Each group will have a facilitator and a person with expertise on the topic. Each group will draw the main conclusions of the conversation and prepare guidelines for the future. \nThe Symposium is open for members of LGBTIQ + organizations\, Municipality of Ljubljana and other organizations from relevant fields. \nPrior registration is required. \nThe event will be held in Slovene language. \nThe space is accessible for wheelchair users (building of Historical Archives Ljubljana\, building next door). SUMMARY:Pride Fundraiser: Live online with Dubais
DESCRIPTION:Since it looks like we won’t be able to dance with you at live music events for a while\, we decided to take the party online. \nIn 2015\, we danced with Dubais at the Pride party in Monokel. This Thursday\, during all the dancing\, we will take time to talk about their art\, activism\, about an event she is preparing in support of the Black Lives Matter movement\, and about the connection through protesting between communities. You are invited to join us livestream on Facebook! \nAt the same time\, we will use our music program for the opportunity to ask you for a donation. If you support and have the opportunity to help us maintain quality content at the Parade and on the Pride Parade Festival for the LGBTIQ+ community\, you can show your support through \nPayPal ✅http://www.ljubljanapride.org/en/podpri-nas/\nor\nIBAN transfer ✅http://www.ljubljanapride.org/en/podpri-nas/ \nMore about Dubais:\nDubais (Nadia Buyse) is perpetually-changing concept band. Nadia says\, ‘It’s my response to participating in an industry where\, especially as a woman of color\, you have to subscribe\nyourself to a certain “sound” or “image” to create a marketable product that can be easily digested and packaged by a publicist and redistributed word for word. Nadia is a singer and multi instrumentalist who has been in over 37 bands\, collaborating with many artists and musicians in various capacities… but name dropping is boring AF. \nAlthough DUBAIS operates like a band\, it’s actually a vehicle for conceptual work and cultural activism in which Nadia uses the tropes of pop music to examine Diasporic migration\, Neo-liberal dystopia\, emotional incapacitations\, consumer technologies\, hybrid identities\, intersectional feminism\, and transnational communities. DUBAIS has released music\,\npublished text\, taught a multitude of workshops\, lectured\, exhibited work\, and performed internationally in a variety of spaces and places. \nSee you on Thursday\, June 11 at 7PM at the LiveStream Zoom event!

SUMMARY:17th evening of LGBT prose and poetry
DESCRIPTION:10th June\, 20:00-22:30\, ŠKUC\, Stari trg 21 \nFor the 17th year in a row\, the ŠKUC Association is organizing a group LGBT literary event\, at which already established and newer authors present their poetry and prose. Many of them have already published their works in Škuč’s Lambda and Vizibilija collections as well as in other publishing houses\, some of them have also been trained in LGBT writing workshops\, which are occasionally organized by the Škuc Association. We will certainly be convinced this year that the modern Slovenian LGBT font is more diverse\, but at the same time penetrating and critical. \nThe event will be hosted by writer Suzana Tratnik. \nThe event is part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Pride Parade in Slovenia. \nThe event is supported by the Public Book Agency of the Republic of Slovenia.

SUMMARY:Multimedia exhibition: 20 years of Pride in Ljubljana
DESCRIPTION:You are kindly invited to visit the retrospective multimedia exhibition which commemorates 20 years of the Pride Parade in Ljubljana\, testifying to the hard work and importance of LGBTIQ+ activists. It highlights the most important elements of each parade and carries a strong message of the fight for the rights of LGBTIQ + people and the fight for human rights in the local environment. \n  \nThe Pride Parade symbolises a struggle that asks “Country\, do you know your debt?”\, and a fight involving hatred\, phobias\, politics\, social and health care. The march against intolerance has been driven over the years by constantly evolving and relevant demands. It has become a march against the phobias of everyone within the LGBTIQ+ community. They all come together in the fight for equal rights\, regularly interrogating from year to year precisely whose and which rights. However\, Pride is not only the fight against phobias and the demand for equality\, it is also a strong reminder of one’s own existence. It is a march of pride\, acceptance of oneself as well as those different from us. A warning that silence is dangerous\, deadly\, suffocating. It is therefore the opposite of  the perpetually enforced silence\, concealment\, oppression. It is a space that opens up space for diversity that is still not self-evident. A space for expression. A place for celebration\, kisses\, friendships. A sense of community belonging and connection. The Pride Parade is a response. Every year a different one\, but intertwined with a rainbow thread. \nThe exhibition consists of 147 photographs on 30 boards\, 20 video installations\, 20 posters\, invitations and everything else that can be connected with the events at the nineteen Ljubljana Pride parades. It is an overview of the last 19 years and a vision of the future\, starting with the 20th Pride Parade in Ljubljana. \n  \nThe video installation\, prepared by Petra Hrovatin and Rob Noon\, shows different moments of the Pride Parade processions from the first parade in 2001 until today. Through several simultaneously-playing television screens in a varied composition\, the story of development and struggle for equality is displayed from the public\, social and political spheres to the streets. \n  \nThe photographic part of the exhibition\, prepared and edited by Jasna Klančišar and Maja Ličen\, highlights a selection of 147 photographs by various authors through 30 panels. Each panel tells its own story of the Pride Parade\, unites the recent and distant past and concludes all 19 Ljubljana Pride Parades into one. These two decades\, captured through a photographic lens\, are recorded with the view of documentary photography\, which creatively\, politically and artistically captures the parade in a distinctive way. Over the years\, photographs have recorded\, archived and documented the parade\, while at the same time capturing what makes the celebration of the parade unique. \n  \nThe Pride Parade is in itself ultimately a political exhibition. Stepping through a city with one’s head held high\, accepting oneself in all one’s being. The occupation of space: both the physical occupation of city streets and the symbolic struggle for space in society. A celebration of connection\, community\, brotherhood\, sisterhood\, companionship. The kisses – a record of love and friendship in all its grandeur. Relatives\, strangers\, entertainers\, politicians\, organisations all connect. There are flag colours\, LGBTIQ+ community symbols; there are passers-by who can barely perceive what is happening right next to their world\, there are workers and police officers. All this and more is a pride parade\, the parade that takes to the streets of Ljubljana one day a year\, and every piece of the puzzle of this exhibition tells their story. \n  \nThe exhibition therefore addresses the theme of the parade in multimedia. Through the two sister media of photography and film\, as well as archival material – leaflets\, invitations\, posters\, and T-shirts – each pride parade is presented separately. It is transparent\, but at the same time extensive and insightful. It answers the question\, “What is a pride parade?”\, and goes a step beyond the obvious to uncover that which is not always exposed\, but is at the same time important. Throughout the 20 years of the Pride Parade in Ljubljana\, it’s procession has expanded significantly\, changing its energy\, concentrating on various issues and waving more flags every year. It has rejuvenated and matured\, but retained kisses\, some faces\, colors\, and a strong voice. It “married” the first lesbian couple and “registered” a gay man two gay men in cars. Its messages\, invitations\, and slogans always highlighted the response to social events. The latter\, however\, represented a constant drive for the parade. \n  \nThe exhibition is on view from 5 to 21 June\, in the Right Atrium of the Ljubljana’s City Hall (the main part of the exhibition) and Pritličje (posters of all 20 Pride parades). \n  \nOrganiser: Pride Parade Association \n  \nProduction: Jadry Kokot \n  \nCurators of the photographic part of the exhibition and preparation of photo panels: Jasna Klančišar and Maja Ličen \n  \nPhotos: Nada Žgank\, Nika Vidnjevič\, Borut Krajnc\, Niki Lapkovski\, Urša Čuk\, Nika Belcijan\, Maja Ličen\, Rebeka Bernetič\, Maša Gojić\, Eva Simetinger\, Viki Kern\, Jasna Klančišar\, Jani Klemenčič\, Tina Zadnik\, Nina Hribernik\, Tia Avsec Nuša Plazovnik\, Nika Zbašnik\, Marta Torres\, Katarina Blažič\, Trio adijo\, Linn Julian Koletnik\, Petra Božnik\, Ana Benje\, Katja Pildek\, Anja Bergoč\, Roberto G.\, Roman Kuhar archive\, Suzana Tratnik archive (or Škuc LL\, Škuc Magnus and Pink Club archives) \n  \nVideo installation\, preparation and video editing: Petra Hrovatin\, Rob Noon \n  \nVideos: Pride Parade Association archives\, Legebitra archive\, Društvo DIH archive\, Studio City archive.
