The Rainbow Voice is proof that change is possible, and we will not stop until we achieve equality.<\/p>\n A record number of voters \u2013 nearly 70% of the electorate \u2013 exercised their democratic will in the parliamentary elections. We have no doubt that rainbow voters contributed a significant number of votes.<\/p>\n Together we showed what kind of country we want to live in. We showed that we want a democratic, free society, one that will celebrate diversity and, at the same time, unite us in solidarity. We showed that we believe in freedom of the press. We showed that we need art and culture in all their colourful and alternative dimensions and that we are prepared to fight for them and voice our demands. We showed that we care for our planet and that we are more than ready to make decisive steps towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future. We showed that we stand for fair payment and fair working conditions.<\/p>\n Together we made sure that today, Slovenia is not following in the footsteps of Hungary or Poland. But our efforts and endeavours for a more just society do not stop here; this is where our work only just begins! As we enter this new chapter, we congratulate and thank all initiatives, activists and everyone who cast their rainbow votes and helped achieve the final result.<\/p>\n Our resistance against the authoritarian regime of the previous government has come to an end, and the conditions for implementing the long-awaited rights of the LGBTIQ+ community are gradually being established! There will no longer be any excuse for us being treated as second-class citizens due to our sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression in this country. We will keep a close watch on the fulfilment of commitments put forward in the Coalition Agreement and continue to advocate for the adoption of legislation enabling the equal treatment of LGBTIQ+ persons before the law.<\/p>\n At the end of the first term of the newly elected government, we envision being able to say:<\/p>\n How about you, esteemed members of the newly elected government, honourable ministers, Mr Prime Minister? Can you envision ending your first term with these accomplishments, these long overdue historical social changes?<\/p>\n Four years from now, we invite you to stand before your rainbow voters and say out loud: There, we made it happen! We kept our pre-election promises, we achieved a more open society together! LGBTIQ+ persons in Slovenia are given equal and equivalent treatment.<\/p>\n Dear decision-makers, respected members of the LGBTIQ+ community and of the public, it is time for change!
