https:\/\/forms.gle\/yhDRCpWs6dFK3DrV9<\/a><\/p>\nThe symposium Minority Stress and the Mental Health of Minority Groups will respond to the increasingly pressing issue of mental health in minority communities, which, in the light of the epidemic and its consequences, is gaining increasing visibility in both the professional and general public spheres. Minority stress as a concept is emerging in the expert community as a tool for understanding the risk factors for mental health problems in minority groups. Stress that is long-lasting and specific to these groups and that results from discriminatory social practices, processes and systemic barriers can have a significant impact on the mental health of entire communities.<\/p>\n
The key message of the symposium, with keynote speaker Matea Popov, a psychologist and long-time activist in the field of LGBTIQ+ community well-being in Croatia, will centre on understanding the impact of minority stress on minority communities and the manifestation of the aforementioned risk factors in individuals\u2019 mental health. We will work with experts in the field of minority mental health to outline the situation that we face in practice and explore possible steps to address more effectively the impact of minority stress in our communities.<\/p>\n
