Diverse communities, one fight<\/h1>\n

Nobody is free until we are all free, and nobody is safe until we are all safe. In the reality that we live in, it is increasingly important to be aware of this fact. Just as conflicts, wars, poverty and oppression know no borders, solidarity also knows no borders. When one LGBTIQ+ person is endangered, we are all endangered. In times when we are dealing with wars, racism, homo-, trans-, bi- and interphobia, violence and other forms of oppression, as well as with the consequences of climate change, we must live international solidarity even more radically and come together across borders and continents.
One of the most radical ways of resisting oppression is to continuously recognize the problems of others as our own. To resist the general mindset of individualism, which dictates that we only see ourselves first, that there is no room for the problems of others, of the environment, until our domestic problems are solved. Let us stand up to the authorities and systems that divide us into \u201cus and them\u201d, \u201cthe right ones and the wrong ones\u201d. Let us demand rights for all! LGBTIQ+ people seeking international protection and asylum, refugees, foreigners, people of colour are coming to Slovenia and Europe every day. For over a year and half there has been a war raging in Europe that completely changed the lives of the entire LGBTIQ+ community in Ukraine. Authoritarian and nationalistic governments are constantly inciting hate speech and violence against the LGBTIQ+ community in our neighbourhood. To live international solidarity means to fight here and now for their rights, for peace, for the right to live, for decent treatment by institutions, for freedom of movement, for human dignity. Not all of us are on the same boat, but we are all in the water. We will not overlook what is happening to others just because our boat is not leaking right now. <\/p>\n

If we want change and more justice, solidarity is key. The intertwining of our personal circumstances, vulnerabilities, and needs, as well as the experience of oppressions clearly show that we need community and a fight that transcends borders, countries, and continents. We need mutual understanding, listening, and an effort to improve the situation of everyone, especially the most vulnerable ones. In the fight for freedom, equality, dignity, a safe future, and an empowered community, we are led by will, necessity, and the awareness that we are stronger together. Throughout the history of LGBTIQ+ activist movements, we witnessed incredible strength, resilience, fight, and hope. Let us rely on the experience, tenacity, and the immense survival ability of diverse activist movements both at home and around the world and come together in solidarity to defend LGBTIQ+ individuals and communities that experience the most oppression.<\/p>\n

With this year\u2019s slogan Diverse communities, one fight<\/em>, we embrace the diversity of LGBTIQ+ movements, identities, and struggles and call for international solidarism, mutual support, and a joint struggle for human dignity all across the world. The intertwining of our realities and the interdependence of diverse communities mean that we are all fighting one fight, the fight for freedom, equality, dignity, safe future, and empowered community.
