SUMMARY:Combating racism: How to be a good ally
DESCRIPTION:We often know when something is not right but we don’t always know what to do about it\, when it comes to racism we might feel we don’t understand everything and we are not sure what is the best thing to do. In this workshop we will look at understanding racism and its impact on people and also what we can do about it and how we can step in and stand up against it. \nThe workshop will be facilitated by Amel Yacef\, originally from Algeria\, who has been working in the youth and community sector in Ireland for almost 20 years. She is a Muslim feminist and anti-racist who believes in transformative justice and its values. \nThe event will be held in English. \nWith ‘Pride Connects’\, we strive to connect the local LGBTIQ+ youth\, activists\, and all those interested in the political side of Pride(s) and LGBTIQ+ Human Rights Struggles in Slovenia and across the world. \nWe know that being an openly LGBTIQ+ person and walking down any public space is a political act\, and we know it is not easy – so we want to create a safe(r) space for all LGBTIQ+ people and a place of empowerment. \nThis event is organised with the financial support of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission\, as Amel is currently engaged in a job shadowing project at Ljubljana Pride. We are especially excited to have her with us for the next couple of days as Amel has been a great support when Ljubljana Pride decided to join ENAR Europe\, where she served as the Chair. \nMOVIT\, Erasmus+\, ENAR Ireland\, European Network Against Racism – ENAR
