SUMMARY:Training for mentors of volunteer organizations
DESCRIPTION:* Are you interested in supporting a young LGBTIQ + person as a mentor to feel safe and accepted and to create a safer place in your organization? \n* Do you know and use vocabulary that is inclusive to all LGBTIQ + youth? \n* Do you feel sovereign in identifying and addressing the phenomena of homophobia\, biphobia or transphobia in your organization and beyond? \nYoung LGBTIQ + people are at increased risk of social exclusion. Most organizations are not adequately equipped to work with LGBTIQ + youth\, although LGBTIQ + people (if they know it or not) are also among their volunteers. \nThis is also indicated by the fact that LGBTIQ + youth are relatively rarely disclosed in leisure-time areas (such as youth centers or various youth activities) (less than 40% are fully disclosed). 14% of LGBTIQ + youth report that they sometimes or often fear for their safety in such spaces. Adding to the high percentages of peer violence\, discrimination\, and unacceptability of LGBTIQ + members\, it becomes clear that LGBTIQ + youth need an understanding and support addressing their specific needs when engaging in volunteering. \nFrom the LGBTIQ + point of view\, the training will show you what we need to be successful in volunteering\, what kind of knowledge our mentors need and how you can best support us. \nIf you are interested\, please apply. \nAPPLICATION\nThe workshops are conducted by the pool of trainers of Ljubljana Pride. \nThe training is part of the project of volunteering for social participation and empowerment of LGBTIQ + young people\, funded by the Ministry of Public Administration.
