SUMMARY:DECONTRAMINATION TRAINING DUBLIN: Antiracist approaches to addressing on-street hate speech
DESCRIPTION:AIM:\nEquipping youth workers and youth trainers with competencies to integrate antiracism practises and analyses in addressing hate speech through decontRamination (using alter and counter-narratives) while working with youth. This will be achieved through the good practice presentations of anti-racism and counter-hate projects and initiatives by INAR\, its members and other groups and collectives based in Ireland\, which can be learned from or replicated elsewhere. \nAFTER THE TRAINING\, THE PARTICIPANTS WILL:\n\nUnderstand the dynamics of racism and its roots in social power relations and systemic discrimination\, as the context within which hate speech occurs.\nGain insight into the connection with related forms of discrimination including transphobia\, misogyny and homophobia.\nUnderstand the typology of hate speech manifestations in different social contexts\, particularly in graffiti and street art.\nBe able to identify and explore the common denominators of antiracism work and youth work.\nGain insights into initiatives that can help decontRaminate dominant toxic narratives about all minoritised groups.\nIncrease the ability to identify\, address and decontRaminate hateful messages using the anti-racist methodological approaches.\nCreate innovative decontRamination methodological approaches in addressing hate speech with young people.\nHave a chance to network and plan follow up activities using the online interactive map and mobile app.\n\nPROFILE OF THE PARTICIPANTS:\n\n Youth workers\, youth leaders\, youth activists – anyone working with youth.\n\n\n  \nAPPLY HERE \n  \n\nTHE PROGRAMME:\nThe training will take the form of various presentations\, workshops\, discussions and case studies between Monday and Friday\, 10-14th May. \nMorning sessions: 10-12 Dublin time // 11-13 Central European Time\nAfternoon sessions (14-16 Dublin time // 15-17 Central European Time):\n  \nMONDAY\, 10/05:\n10-12 (11-13 CET): Launch of the DecontRamination Training Dublin: Antiracist approaches to addressing on-street hate speech. Introduction and the overview of the DecontRamination Project and its Partners – INAR (Ireland)\, Laosje (Berlin\, Germany) and Ljubljana Pride (Ljubljana\, Slovenia). \n12-14 (15-17 CET): Systemic racism and hate speech in public spaces webinar. The afternoon session will focus on understanding the dynamics of racism\, how it manifests and its roots in social power relations and systemic discrimination\, as the context within which hate speech occurs. This session will help you gain insight into the connection of racism with related forms of discrimination including transphobia\, misogyny and homophobia. You will also gain an insight into the typology of hate speech manifestations in different social contexts\, particularly in graffiti and street art. \nTUESDAY\, 11/05:\n10-12 (11-13 CET): Political representatives\, local authorities and direct action. Presentation and discussion on the role of political representatives and local authorities in decontRaminating on-street hate\, supporting communities and building allyship against hate and discrimination. \n12-14 (15-17 CET): Introducing DecontRamination mapping tools: map & app. An overview of the DecontRamination online tools for mapping and documenting hateful and discriminatory graffiti and writing to draw attention to the hate and discriminatory speech that occupies our streets. \nWEDNESDAY\, 12/05: RECLAIMING THE STREETS: YOUTH WORK INITIATIVES\n10-12 (11-13 CET): Youth-led on-street initiatives against systemic racism. Presentation and discussion about how the youth-led initiatives can reclaim the streets and respond to systemic racism in creative ways in public spaces. \n12-14 (15-17 CET): Youth project and street art for social inclusion. A practical overview of a role youth work can play in decontRaminating neighbourhoods with creative use of street art tools to promote social inclusion and unity. \nTHURSDAY\, 13/05: COMMUNITY RESPONSE TO RACISM\n10-12 (11-13 CET): Responding to racism – tools and resources. An overview of practical tools and resources on responding to racism to increase the ability to identify\, address and decontRaminate hate using the anti-racist methodological approaches. \n12-14 (15-17 CET): DecontRaminating neigbourhoods: a community response to racism. A practical overview and case studies of communities’ proactive response to racism and far-right narratives. \nFRIDAY\, 14/05\n10-12 (11-13 CET): Reflecting\, sharing and closing of the week. \n\nCLICK ‘SELECT A DATE’ BUTTON TO REGISTER FOR SESSION(S) OF YOUR CHOICE.\nNOTE: Please note that although you are asked to register for all day\, you can choose to attend only the morning or afternoon session or both sessions on a given day. \n  \nAPPLY HERE \n  \nwww.decontramination.org
