Both Cocaine Piss’s music and their name carry associations of ugliness, provocativeness, and lewdness; but the message of this quartet from Belgium cuts as deep as their singer’s voice. Their songs are fast, angry, and mostly shy of two minutes long. The band members identify as queer, support gender equality, and fight against sexism and elitism both in the punk scene as well as the greater society. Steve Albini, a fan of theirs, won the 2018 World Series of Poker wearing their T-shirt (maybe it was a lucky shirt, who knows?). The band has recorded two albums in their Chicago studio: The Dancer (2016) and Passionate and Tragic (April 2018). Get ready for a cacophony of Dead Kennedys, Bikini Kill, and Melt Banana – or in other words, get ready for a high voltage mixture of noise, punk, glitter, and sweat.
