Pride Connects: Screening of ‘Paris is Burning’
19. November 2019 od 19:00–21:00
- November 20 marks Trans Day of Remembrance, a day to memorialize those who have been murdered as a result of transphobia and draw attention to the continued violence endured by transgender people.
We will screen the documentary film ‘Paris is Burning’, accompanied by a discussion of the film and how trans people with certain intersectional minority experiences must be brought to the forefront of how Trans Day of Remembrance and transphobic violence are framed.
The discussion will be coordinated by Verity Ritchie from ‘Kvartir’.
With ‘Pride Connects’, we strive to connect the local LGBTIQ+ youth, activists, and all those interested in the political side of Pride(s) and LGBTIQ+ Human Rights Struggles in Slovenia and across the world.
We know that being an openly LGBTIQ+ person and walking down any public space is a political act, and we know it is not easy – so we want to create a safe(r) space for all LGBTIQ+ people and a place of empowerment.
