At the dissemination event of the Inclusive Organizations project, which we held as part of the consultation on the ‘Status of LGBTIQ+ Youth in the Municipality of Ljubljana,’ we presented our process for certifying inclusive organizations, developed in collaboration with international organizations (Grenzenlos, Lunaria, and Cazalla Intercultural. This certification scheme offers tools to establish safe and welcoming spaces for everyone, not just for LGBTIQ+ youth. We also presented the website where more information about the certification can be found: https://www.inclusive-organisations.eu/.
The discussion also included a practical component, where we invited participants to choose one of the eight principles of inclusive organizations. In pairs, they explored the chosen principle and discussed how their organization could become more inclusive by applying it. We also asked questions about what the organization would gain from this and what they need to potentially engage in the certification process. Participants then recorded their findings on posters, which will contribute to further exploration of inclusive practices at the local level.
