At the beginning of August, we spent a week in Brežice at our biggest youth exchange to date, with participants from 7 countries! Despite the heatwave, the theme of the exchange – Sustainable Activism – inspired us to engage in exciting and thought-provoking conversations.
Throughout the week, we explored LGBTIQ+ activism in Serbia, Montenegro, Armenia, Moldova, Slovakia and Poland, along with the local and national contexts. We discussed challenges ranging from legal and administrative barriers to deeply rooted hostile social norms. While our realities differ, we found that the responses and strategies we use to tackle these challenges can be remarkably similar!
The exchange reminded us that young people carry the future. Thank you to everyone who contributed through your thoughts, actions and conversations. Thank you to MC Brežice for being a wonderful host, and to our trainers Tanja, Nina and Aron, who masterfully guided us towards conversations that will stay with us for a long time.
