Last week, we hosted professionals from France, Poland and Slovenia for an International Training Seminar on LGBTIQ+ Youth Homelessness and Mental Health.
The first days we explored non-formal education methods to capacitate individuals on how to facilitate trainings on the topic within their own teams and contexts.
The second half of the week shifted to a seminar, exploring the topic of mental health through a variety of techniques like (peer) support groups, intervision, organisational reflection and a reminder that mental health awareness is just as important for staff as for beneficiaries in support work.
Throughout the week we also introduced our guests to Ljubljana, through an LGBTIQ+ tour, home cooked vegan meals and a taste of the Slovene cultural scene with a drag show.
This activity is part of the project ‘Re-BUILD: Building Understanding and Inclusive Learning for the Development of mental health support’ which aims to strengthen LGBTIQ+ shelters across Europe by integrating mental health support for LGBTIQ+ young adults experiencing homelessness.
