Preteklo soboto (3. 10.) smo bile_i v Vidmu na FVG Prideu. 🏳️🌈
Lepo pozdravljene paradnice_ki, drage sosede, draga LGBTIQ+ skupnost Furlanije – Julijske
krajine, drage soborke FVG Parade ponosa!Thank you very much for this wonderful invitation, it is an honor to be able to speak today in
the name of Ljubljana Pride.
It is absolutely amazing to see so many beautiful queer bodies, here, visible, loud, colorful and
angry!
We all know too well in what a dark moment of history we live. Finally, finally, we saw the fall
of Viktor Orban, and immediately we have the rise of Janez Janša – one fascist down after
almost 2 decades and another one roaring in his newly obtained power.
You know this too well, you feel the claws of oppression from your own politicians, regional and
national. Our movement is getting decimated, people are burned out and vulnerable, the
planet is dying every day around us. The FVG Pride manifesto is a great insight into the
demands of your community and the struggle you face. And so much of your manifesto could
be the manifesto of Ljubljana Pride or any other Pride in our neighborhood.
What I want to say to you today is THANK YOU, look to your neighbor on your left, the one in
front, to the right, check behind you – and just say thank you to each other. Because in all this
devastation, we are here. We are fighting, we show up and we care.
And all the fascists of this world will not silence us. They can manipulate, they can buy votes,
they can imprison us, but they cannot take one thing away from us, and that is the deep
understanding that we are right, we are valid, we are worthy and we are fighters.
Our community in Turkey has been pressured and imprisoned for years, and what do they do –
keep fighting. Our Prides get banned, they get their permits revoked, the local authorities try to
block us, and what do we do – the Pride marches anyway. The Trumps and Janšas of this world
cut our funding and fuel hatred towards us, what do we do – we get organized, we build our
own services and support and we learn how to defend ourselves.
The point being, we are here, and we are going to keep fighting.
Being part of a community means that we will show up for each other, that when your local
governments try to prevent you from marching for your rights, we will march with you and we
will march for you. And we know that if in the next year or two, this fascist and racist
government of Janez Janša will try and ban the Pride in Slovenia, we know that you will march
with us and you will march for us.Our struggle, even though it has different nuances, is the same in its core, that is why also our
resistance needs to be international, knowing no borders.
On the African Continent movements are guided by the OBUNTU principle – I am because you
are and we are because you are – and I believe our movement lives up to that principle.
We share a neighborhood, we share a political fight, we share our struggles and we share our
strength.
So, let me say it one more time – THANK YOU, GRAZIE, HVALA!
Thank you for showing up and thank you for being a fighter.
Hvala FVG Pride za skupnost, upor in prostor, ki smo ga soustvarjale_i skupaj. 🩷
