Part of the team of Ljubljana Pride Association will take part in a study visit to Ireland from 5 to 11 October. During this time, we will meet with several organisations: some of which we already collaborate with and would like to further strengthen this cooperation, some with which we have collaborated in the past and would now like to renew our cooperation, and some organisations that will be completely new to us.

This is particularly important to us, as some of our publications and approaches, which we have developed over the years, have been strongly inspired by Irish experiences. This time, in addition to youth organisations, we will therefore focus on meetings with LGBTIQ+ organisations, visits to youth groups and activities in the field, as well as establishing and strengthening connections with key stakeholders working in the fields of LGBTIQ+ rights and youth work in Ireland.

During the visit, we will also attend the annual ILGA-Europe conference, the largest conference of its kind, which brings together more than 400 LGBTIQ+ activists every year. This year’s theme, “Resist and Rise,” feels particularly relevant to our visit, as it invites us to reflect on how we can respond to the growing pressures on our movements while also building alliances, sharing strategies and preparing for the future.
