Ljubljana Pride is pleased to announce that on September 24, 2025, we will host an exceptional guest – Dr. Mark Segal, legendary activist, award-winning journalist, author and one of the key participants in the Stonewall Resistance in 1969.
As an 18-year-old, Segal stood in front of the Stonewall bar in New York and marked the history of the LGBTIQ+ rights movement with his life. He is the founder of Philadelphia Gay News, co-creator of the world’s first pride parade in 1970, a fearless fighter against media invisibility of the LGBT community and today the curator of the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center. His life story is an invaluable bridge between the past and present of the movement.
At the event, we will talk with him about his experiences at Stonewall, his long-term activist path and vision of equality, and we will also touch on the challenges of today – both in the USA and in our country.
We will announce the end and exact time of the event in the following days.
