We are proud to present the results of the “Safe for Pride” project, co-financed by the Impact4Values program. This project enabled us to take a comprehensive and organized approach to ensuring safety and support for participants at this year’s Pride Parade.
What did we achieve through the project?
- Organized multiple meetings with the police to improve coordination and develop joint safety strategies.
- Trained 7 safe persons who were available to support victims of incidents – they provided emotional support, helped with police reports, and more.
- Enhanced security with over 20 stewards who helped maintain safety and order at the event.
- Created and distributed a safety leaflet for parade participants and established an online support database.
- Developed an online incident reporting questionnaire, which served as the basis for this comprehensive report.
Key Findings of the Report:
The report analyzes a total of 22 incidents, including microaggressions, verbal abuse, offensive gestures, and physical attacks. Organized groups of perpetrators harassed, threatened, and, in some cases, physically assaulted parade participants.
The report highlights improved cooperation with the police compared to previous years, though areas for further progress remain. It also provides concrete recommendations for more effective measures and enhanced safety at future events.
